Unique Factors
The IMBA is the Schulich MBA + International. A career in international business requires having the knowledge to think globally and the skills and experience to act locally. Look beyond national borders for new markets and resources. This kind of cross-national thinking requires global vision and international perspective along with an understanding of international finance, strategy and other business functions, as well as specialized knowledge of regions and the individual countries within them. To prepare for work in Canada and abroad, the Schulich IMBA offers a balanced program of formal study and first-hand, real-world experience. Up to 40 IMBA students are admitted each September to the program. The Curriculum offers management foundation courses that provide students with the theory and skills in major business functions to use in national and international operations; Specialization elective courses to expand their knowledge of business functions, industries and special topics; and an International Strategy Field Study offers the opportunity to conduct a thorough strategic analysis and create a strategic plan for a business or nonprofit organization. As part of its continuing quest to keep its programs relevant and responsive to the changing needs of the business community, the Schulich School incorporated an overseas Work Term into the IMBA program. The goal is to give students international exposure to enhance their ability to participate in the global economy. In addition, students graduate with the ability to conduct business in one of the world’s major business languages at a certified oral professional level.
Regional Specialization
In addition to studying the North American market, IMBA students specialize in one of the world’s other major business markets: Asia Pacific, Europe, Latin America or South and Southeast Asia.
Access to specially designed international management courses, as well as to Schulich’s more than 100 elective courses in around 20 areas of specialization with everything from finance to nonprofit management
